I am running the 5.03 on Vista with no issues

Caranya,............

When you install Reflex on Vista it doesn't unpack all the files you need. Therefore I installed it on my XP installation and then copied the directory to a safe place whilst I put Vista back on.

Once Vista is on go through the install process again for Reflex. When it has finished copy your back up folder over the install directory.

Then it will run fine. Not sure what the installer is checking for while it runs but it decompresses everything but them main executable I believe. So long as you have that somewhere already uncompressed then you can just drop it over the top.

The new installer on the next CD batch will work fine in these environments. A reasonable workaround for the time being is rather boring: just install Reflex on a 32 bit XP and copy c:\program files\reflex to your 64bit or Vista manually. Just need a few links to the desktop or task bar, that's it. As Reflex doesn't need any registry keys, a manual copy/paste works fine.

I believe if you turn off the User Access Control under the users section of Control Panel then a lot of those issues will go away and Vista will stop badgering you about things..

Guys I copied the Reflex folder from my old XP to my Vista Program Files folder.
Everything works fine except that I get an errormessage when I close reflex. It is not able to save some kind of .ini file.

As I am pretty interested in whats going on there I have tried to play around with permissions but even everyone / full control doesn't help.

Whats wrong here?

Interesting ...

deleted the Reflex.ini and had Reflex recreate it. After that procedure everything works fine and the error is gone.

I upgraded from XP to Vista RC1 and Reflex wouldn't work. It came up with the os incompatible the first time I ran it then it ran ok but couldn't find any models as the directory seemed to be unavailable to reflex because of permissions on the program files directory. In the end I moved the Reflex directory to the root of the C: and it works fine.

I've now got my reflex working fine (WITHOUT using XP installs and copying over)

This is how step by step:

1) insert CD into drive and install as normal.
2) locate install Dir (usually C:/Program files/REFLEX
3) Right click on that folder and select Properties, select the Security tab at the top. Select each entry in the 'Group or users names' box in turn and click edit. At the bottom of the edit section you should see the permissions, select 'Full Control'. Then do the same for all other entries. Click okay, then Okay again.
4) Using Windows Explorer, Navigate to [CD Drive]/deutsch OR [CD Drive]/english (depending on your language) click the little triangle next to the folder. You SHOULD see it open up and reveal a 'Data1' folder. Click this folder and locate the 'REFLEX_' application file. Copy this file to the Reflex dir on your hard drive. Then create a short cut of this file wherever you want (I chose the Desktop).

Clicking on the shortcut should get the Sim up and running

Next stage the dongle driver.

You'll need to go to Device manager and UNINSTALL the 'REFLEX RC USB Device', found in 'Human Interface Devices' Then reinstall as follows:

1) Locate the file 'ReflexHIDInst.exe' in the reflex folder. Right click it and select properties again. Click the Compatability Tab and check the box 'Run this program as an administrator'
2) Double click (Run) this file and ALLOW it run. Then follow install instructions.
3) Restart PC! IMPORTANT!

You should now be able to run Reflex in Vista


Kadang2 MOD file not found, karena ini,...............

I had the issue, that the comp could not find the mod files after copying the whole folder from xp to vista, until I realized, the /reflex folder shall be in C:/, not C:/Program files/ - now it runs without any issues !
